BCCM Amendment Bill 2023

The Real Estate Institute of Queensland (the REIQ) welcomed the opportunity to provide its views on the Body Corporate And Community Management And Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023 (the Amendment Bill).

We acknowledged the difficulty in providing a framework that sufficiently balanced the rights of stakeholders, particularly in the context of community title schemes where such regulation has a meaningful impact on Queenslander’s homes and businesses.

We were generally supportive of the Amendment Bill. Subject to our comments in the below Submission, we considered the Amendment Bill to be reasonably fair, balancing the rights of lot owners, the body corporate and relevant stakeholders.
