Application

  1. This Policy applies to all students enrolled in REIQ training courses (“you”).
  2. This Policy is to be regarded as part of the student rules, as referred to in the RTO Terms and Conditions.  Accordingly, you are required to comply with this Policy.

Integrity and Academic Misconduct

  1. Academic integrity is vital to learning at REIQ.
  2. REIQ is committed to providing an educational approach to academic integrity recognising that you and other students should be supported to develop and demonstrate practical skills and knowledge.
  3. Academic integrity allows you the freedom to innovate, build knowledge and produce creative works while respecting and acknowledging the work of others.
  4. However, academic misconduct is unacceptable.
  5. Academic misconduct occurs by a student in relation to their academic activities at REIQ RTO which involves any form of academic dishonesty or misrepresentation, including cheating, or doing anything which may assist a person to cheat, in relation to assessment.
  6. Academic misconduct includes:
  • Having someone else do your assessment
  • Providing your assessment to another student to copy
  • Cheating on assessment tasks or parts
  • Helping another student do an assessment task or part
  • Submitting someone else’s work as your work
  • Submitting work that does not properly acknowledge the ideas or words of another person (e.g., plagiarism)
  • using artificial intelligence to assist or produce submitted work contrary to this policy (see below).
  1. REIQ will deal with academic misconduct in an equitable, consistent, transparent, and timely manner.
  2. If you engage in misconduct, you may be required to re-do a course or items assessment, complete an alternate version of the course or assessment task, or potentially withdrawn form the REIQ training program.  You will not be entitled to a refund of fees if this occurs.

Use of AI

  1. AI tools are commonly used for work and study.  REIQ does not prohibit use of AI tools for learning but provides the rules in this Policy to ensure that you appropriately learn the skills knowledge needed for your courses and that you undertake assessment fairly and with integrity.
  2. AI tools include generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Bard and Microsoft Bing AI.
  3. While these content-generating tools may offer attractive opportunities to streamline your work and increase efficiency, they come with risks and should be used only in accordance with this Policy.
  4. AI tools are not always accurate.  You should not rely upon information provided by AI tools as correct information for your studies or when working after you have completed your studies. 
  5. For example, information provided by AI tools may be out-of-date, may not apply in Queensland, or may simply be incorrect.  Sometimes, AI tools completely fabricate incorrect information.
  6. You should not input confidential or personal information into AI tools, as AI tools may use this information for their learning and may disclose such information to others.  This includes confidential or personal information of you or of others.
  7. When doing assessment, the following rules apply unless otherwise specified in writing as part of the assessment:
  • You may use AI tools to proof-read and check your answers.
  • You may use AI tools when researching answers, noting that AI tools may provide inaccurate information.  But you must not copy the output of AI tools into any part of your assessment submissions.
  • You must not use AI tools to write answers or complete reports / case studies requirements or parts of assessment questions and or reports / case study that you submit.
  • You must not input any part of REIQ course materials or REIQ assessment parts/tools or questions into AI tools.
  • You must not buy or obtain AI prompts to assist you undertake your assessment.
  • If you are uncertain how you can use AI for assessment, ask a member of the REIQ Training Team or your Trainer.
  • Where appropriate, you should acknowledge and reference your use of AI in your assessment.
  • It is your responsibility to assess the validity and applicability of any AI output that is submitted; you bear the final responsibility.
  • Violations of these rules will be considered academic misconduct.
